Dear Wayne,
I am so pleased with the Manaia program
that my son attended last weekend. I want to thank you for
accepting him into the program. I have witnessed a transformation
in his demeanor. I have to say that for the first time since my
son began attending public schools he is “himself” again. He
has been troubled for many years from struggling to be understood
by his teachers, and to understand what they expect of him. He has
a peacefulness about him now that comes to us when we have a great
weight lifted from our shoulders. He has been able to articulate
his feelings with confidence in knowing that his thoughts and
feelings are valid. He can express a deeper understanding of
others and can appreciate that he is not alone in his struggles.
He seems to have internalized the Golden Rule, and shows self
respect as well as respect for others.
My son has expressed gratitude to me
for encouraging him to attend the program. And, although at first
I had thought that continuing for five weeks, one evening a week,
might be more than he would be willing to do, he has surprised me
by stating that one of his immediate goals is to finish the
program.
I am delighted to discover that not
only did you manage to capture his interest within the program,
but he has come away with tools that he is able to apply to his
daily life.
This has been an uplifting experience
for my son, and for me, as an immediate member of his family.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bozeman Parent (Name withheld for
